Better Together

It’s been so long since I’ve had time to sit down and write! It’s been a busy yet fun summer though.

One of our main focus this summer is health coaching. My hubby and I are newly Certified Health Coaches through Villanova School of Nursing and we are so excited to help others reach their goals whether it be in body, mind or finances. We have enjoyed  paying it forward to those who are ready to live their life in complete abundance

Our journey started back in February–one of the best investments yet. Fast forward and Daniel has loss over 65 lbs and I’ve loss over 20! We don’t only focus on how much we have loss but also on how much we have truly gained.

It’s like having our life back–full of energy, fitting into our clothes comfortably, confidence, better sleep, a better mommy and daddy for our girls, a healthier marriage, our hearts filled with bigger dreams and plans–the list goes on!!!

That picture above doesn’t define me anymore. The way I felt above was not who I was created to be! I didn’t realize it 6 months ago how complacent I was becoming.  I didn’t realize how I hid behind sweaters and how it was much easier to say I’m just tired than reaching for my next level in my life. I didn’t realize that I was comforting myself with all unhealthy habits. I didn’t realize everyday I was getting further and further away from what God had in store for me.  The weight truly tried to hold me back in every area of my life. I’m a firm believer that weight not only affects you physically and emotionally but spiritually as well. It’s such a bondage and was a bondage for me. Not anymore

Today, I’m different! I’m free! My mind isn’t filled with I can’t but rather I can! My mindset has changed! With the Lord’s help I can do anything. No more hiding behind my sweaters or using excuses of why I can’t go out and accomplish my goals–I’ve learned to create my best life now not later!

If you are struggling with any areas of your life whether it be physical, emotional or financial–reach out to me. Don’t live it alone. We are better together and I would be honored to walk this journey with you!

Daniel and I see health coaching as an extension in our ministry–it is the desire of our hearts to help others live their life in complete abundance! We get ONE life, choose to live it well!  Let’s get #fitforthekingdom together!❤️

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one!” Ephesians 4:9-10

Avocado & Chicken Caprese Salad…

2 cups Romaine lettuce
1/2 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved

1/8 Avocado, chopped

2 oz. Fresh mozzarella, chopped

4 oz. Chicken breasts, chopped (I used garlic salt & pepper-seasoned, sauteed chicken breasts)

Fresh torn basil

Walden farms Balsamic

1 full lean and green, 1 healthy fat and 3 condiments

Zucchini Boats

Another delicious yet healthy recipe that will continue to provide the right nutrients to burn fat!

Makes 4 servings
2 zucchini– total weight one pound

2 teaspoons crushed garlic

4 teaspoons olive oil – divided use

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 pound grape tomatoes

4 ounces part skim mozzarella

4 tablespoons parmesan

Just cut a zucchini in half lengthwise and trim a little off the bottom so it sit still in a baking dish. Scoop out the center where the seeds are with a spoon.

Brush the surface with a mixture of crushed garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper.

Arrange halved grape tomatoes into the grooves, and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes. Remove and place diced mozzarella in between the tomatoes, place them back in, but now under the broiler until golden and bubbling.

Remove and drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkling of grated parmesan.

“I Will Be With You”

Whatever you may be going through today, the Lord promises to never leave you nor forsake you! He is closer than your own brothe/sister, just trust in Him and He will direct your very path! Be encouraged today as you head into a new week!

Commit—->Goal

As a wife, mom of 3, teacher, health coach and blogger–the timing never seems to be just right to start anything new! If you are anything like me–I love to have my ducks in a row and have everything just right!

But real life doesn’t always allow for that scenario–sometimes you just have to COMMIT so you can be one step closer to your GOAL!

Cheers 2016!

I can not believe it’s the last day of 2016! Where did the time go? It seems as though each year goes by faster and faster and for me I tend to forget all the “good” things that happened throughout the year.

So to help us keep in the spirit of being thankful, last January our family added a new tradition–our “Give Thanks” jar!(Detailed instructions can be found on Mami of Multiples site–where I contribute for the Tampa Bay Area).

My goal in even making this jar was to make sure we remember our blessings of the current year. It’s so easy to head into the new year completely focused on all the “oh this didn’t happen” or “I didn’t reach this goal” or whatever your inner dialogue is telling you today. But with a “Give Thanks” jar we will be able to head into the New Year counting our blessings, celebrating what the Lord, alone, did for us! We will head into 2017 with a grateful heart as we read all of the things that we each took time to jot down throughout the last 12 months.

Cheers 2016 and Hello 2017!

A Happy New Year’s to Everyone! Thank you for reading my thoughts throughout the year!  As always, many blessings to each of you 💕

Christmas Family Tradition with Target’s, The Toycracker & Free Give Away!

The original post can be found on mamiofmultiples.com

The holidays are a time for celebrating family traditions. When my husband and I got married, one of our first Christmas decorations that we bought together were two nutcrackers that fit just perfectly on our mantle.

As the years went by and our house filled with more little feet and laughter, we added several other traditions. With the help of our children, our traditions have expanded to decorating our home the day after Thanksgiving and driving around to see the lights and decorations in the neighborhood. We now open one present on Christmas Eve after attending church and read the Christmas story from the Bible on Christmas morning even before opening presents.
One tradition that we enjoy as a family the entire month of December is cozying up on the couch watching classic holiday movies. With the Christmas tree lights flickering, the Christmas village meticulously placed while the stockings are already hung awaiting Santa’s arrival – its truly a special and beloved time for our family. Its a tradition we hope our children will one day share with their own families one day.

This year, Target invites you and your family to rediscover the wonder of Holiday Theater with the debut of a Broadway-style production called, The Toycracker, Target’s modern interpretation of the classic holiday tale of The Nutcracker.

The Toycracker stars Oscar, Golden Globe and 10-time Grammy winning artist John Legend as The Rat King, television personality and No. 1 New York Times best-selling author Chrissy Teigen as The Nutcracker, and a cast of Target’s must-have holiday toys that come to life through computer generated animation. The eight-minute musical will air in two four-minute segments during the network broadcast premiere of Disney’s Frozen on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. EST/ 7p.m. CST on ABC. See a behind-the-scenes sneak peek by clicking HERE.

Our family can’t wait to watch Target’s Toycracker! What a unique and fun concept on a holiday classic that families of all ages can watch together.

A big Thank You to Target for sending us a Christmas bag filled with lot of goodies from Hot Cocoa, Chocolate Covered Marshmallows, Holiday Drizzle Caramel Corn Clusters, Turtle Pecan Chocolates, Let It Snow mugs, a Frozen blanket and a pair of super soft festive socks to keep us warm and cozy! You can really find everything you need at Target to get your family in the spirit of the season and ready to enjoy some holiday fun together.

The Feliciano’s will be adding one more memory as we look forward to the premiere of The Toycracker this Sunday, Dec. 11, at 8 p.m. EST/ 7p.m. CST on ABC!

How it all began for me:
Writing has been something that has had a special place in my heart since I was very young but I just never really thought of pursuing it.  Two years ago I started my first blog post with the encouragement of my husband to document our adventure as we were heading into full time ministry. I rose to the challenge and found that my posts were geared to young moms who were trying to figure out this thing called, “motherhood.” As I started blogging more frequently I just felt in my heart that if my writings could inspire or encourage any and all readers then I felt this was what I’m meant to do for this season of my life.
This past year I have also started to write for Mami of Multiples as Tampa Bays Contributing Columnist.  Check out this site to learn more on product reviews, Disney insider information, recipes and other family friendly topics.

Tips to Newbie Bloggers

Take a Closer Look

Let me say right off the bat–I did NOT want to write about this, much less, add the photo you see.  Uggh!  But I do try to keep things real on here so here we go.
Last year in April, I shared  with you all about my struggle in losing the baby weight.  I have a love for running and since we were moving from Virginia, I had signed back up to run a 10k (6.2 miles) that had kicked my butt the year before.(The Struggle is Real)
So the other day, a good friend of mine emailed me asking about that race and saying she saw a picture of me as I was running. I read on as my friend writes, “Oh the picture is part of a calendar and it’s all over Fairfax County offices and Rec Centers!” Umm..lets just say it’s not my most flattering picture and definitely one that I didn’t want circulating.
Healthystrides

When I first glanced at this picture all I could see was the baby weight I still needed to lose, my form falling apart, the runner ahead of me smiling from ear to ear,(I really don’t know what she’s smiling at, we still had like 2 more miles to go) me holding in my breath or maybe me struggling to catch my breath BUT take a closer looka picture is worth a thousand words, isn’t it?
See when I look at myself in this photograph, not just the outward appearance I tend to cringe at, I see on my face:  Determination, Focus, Endurance, Purpose drivenI would have much, much rather the moment captured with me in all smiles and two thumbs up as I gracefully jogged by the photographer. But that wasn’t my race.
So why did I choose to post a picture that I find unflattering?  Well it’s proof!
It’s proof to me and anyone reading, while I wasn’t looking my best in that particular moment– that moment is still defined in a way to push me to my next level.  This moment that I once cringed is a moment I can now be proud of.

What moment in your life have you cringed?
Have you come across your old photos, old videos or even memories where you think, uggh!  Take a closer look, remind yourself what you were fighting for, remind yourself of that goal, remind yourself of your focus–let that image propel you to your next level!

My New Gig

img_0632As many of you have probably seen by now I have taken on a new title!  I am very excited and happy to announce that I am the newest contributing columnist to one of the nation’s recognized Latina American parenting and lifestyle sites, Mami of Multiples.  I will be offering advice, tips and resources on family-friendly topics like faith, family and home.  Please head on over and check it out–there are so many helpful resources.

So how did this all happen for me?  Well my story goes back to a couple of years ago when we were still living in VA.  Dan and I were driving to Virginia Beach which is quite a hike for us and trust me when I say, there was always traffic so we would end up talking about everything under the sun. You know those deep convos of sharing where you are in life, your dreams, your desires…well anyway that was what we did to help pass the time on the road.  I clearly remember sharing with him that I felt a bit consumed by the girls.  I didn’t have anything that said “Shivaulie!”  I wanted my own identity. I didn’t just want to be Dan’s wife,  Alyssa and Alaina’s mom at the time, I wanted to reach people and not just in my circle, I wanted to inspire/encourage others.  Now don’t get me wrong, I do love being a wife and a mommy but I knew “Shivaulie” needed her very own outlet too.  He asked me what is one thing that I would love to do but feel like I couldn’t do because it seemed way too big for me? I thought about it and seriously I didn’t even want to say it out loud because I knew he was going to make me accountable for it.  He quietly waited for my answer and I said, ” I would love to write a book one day!” Dan already knew I was going to say that but it’s something else when you hear yourself say it out loud, isn’t it?

We did what we always do, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3)  It wasn’t until February of last year that I decided to start blogging.  It didn’t matter to me how many people read it–I was so excited that I was I writing–I had my outlet!  It was an answered prayer. Then the messages came in on how I was that encouragement/inspiration to others through my posts.  Another answered prayer!  Well which brings me back to my recent gig: now a contributing columnist for such a well-known and reputable site, which means I will be reaching all sorts of people from all over the world–not just my circle!  Another answered prayer!

So here’s my question to you:  What is the one thing that you would love to do but feel like you can’t do because it seems too big for you? Say it out loud, hear yourself speak life into it, commit it to the Lord, and work towards it.
